Sake

This is a photograph of Sake offerings made to Meiji Shrine.

I've posted this because Jaden has done a great post on Sake in her blog. It's pretty useful information for anyone, but even more if you live in North America because she talks about brands you can purchase there.

My favorite has always been Mizubasho. Just as she's mentioned, quality Sake is always consumed cold. It's cheap Sake that's warmed and nice to drink in cold weather - like what you do with mulled wine. Nobody in their right mind would make mulled wine with vintage Chateau Haut-Brion if you know what I mean.

I serve saki when I make maki at home, but I have to admit I don't know much about it.

I just bought some saki. Where were you a couple weeks ago? Just kidding. If I do not like it I will ask you next time. I did have a taste of it at a wine tasting. I had it cold. I liked it. Cant wait to try the one I bought. I will look and see which one it is. Thanks!

Chow & Chatter: Warm Sake is lovely in cold weather. :)

Trish: Jaden's post was interesting for me too because I didn't realize they were importing so much of this to the US.

Taste Traveller: I'm being a bit squeamish about posting my personal attributes, please give me time. :p

Lori: If you don't like the taste in terms of drinking it - you can use it for cooking. ;)

Shyly to admit that I never drank Sake, I use it to make teriyaki. Perhaps it is a good idea that I try to taste it. Thanks for the useful info.

Guess what?!?!?!
I'm going to JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!
I'm SOOOOOOO thrilled!!!! I can't wait to get there and take it all in. I'll be there 3 weeks starting the last week of August! I'll probably be emailing you to ask you for tips and suggestions, since you're only one of 2 Japanese people I know!

Marta: Please feel free to ask me anything. Which parts will you be visiting?
